Kids Program
The fully supervised children's program provides a fantastic ranch experience for kids ages 4 through 11 years of age!
The Children’s Program continues to be a vital part of the Tanque Verde Ranch experience, as can be seen through the countless parents who comment, “My child won’t even leave the program to join me for a meal. As a matter of fact, they barely even say hi to me as they pass by with all the other kids on the way to the next activity!” It is always fun to watch the progression as newly arrived children cling to their parents as they first walk into the kids dining room. Who would believe that in a mere two hours they would have made 20 new “best friends” and would be in tears when they have to go home! It is a testament to Nancy and all the counselors who create such an enjoyable and safe environment for all the little “wranglers” and “buckaroos.”
One exciting development in the Children’s Program is the addition of a new playground that features three slides, a fort, and many other kid-friendly features! We look forward to seeing you so you can try it out soon!!
The program is divided into two age groups, the 4-6 year olds (Buckaroos) and the 7-11 year olds (Wrangler Kids). The program is very active, incorporating riding along with other athletics such as tennis, swimming, and hiking and educational work in nature programs, games, arts and crafts, and other activities for a vacation experience that will not soon be forgotten! (This program requires your child's active participation. This is not a babysitting service.)
Buckaroos
The Buckaroos (ages 4-6) have an active Daily Schedule.** They do their riding in the arena and the obstacle course, with our Counselors working with them to develop their riding proficiency. They start each day in the corral for riding lessons. The Kids Counselors teach them the essentials of horseback riding and also teach them to respect their 4-legged friends. For the reassurance, self confidence and ability of the child, A PARENT IS REQUIRED TO BE PRESENT AT THE CHILD'S FIRST RIDING LESSON. Thereafter, the counselors will advise parents when they no longer need to be present.
Wrangler Kids
The Wrangler Kids (ages 7-11) have a more active Daily Schedule** geared to their mental and physical capabilities. This group starts each day on a Trail Ride with the Kids Counselors. They also have daily riding lessons and participate in Breakfast Rides by riding to the Old Homestead. Parents may accompany their children on trail rides if they wish.
Camp TVR 2008
